The Blog Bank: Now accepting Blog donations!
March 15th, 2008 by Blog Bank Guy
Finally, after months and months of sweat, blood, and cartons of Yellow Cab, we’re finally open to the public! You see, it’s not that easy figuring out a localized advertising system that would be beneficial to both advertisers and bloggers. It’s one thing to tell bloggers that they are going to make tens of thousands of pesos with us – and another to drown advertisers with the most expensive rates in Internet history. So finding that sweet spot was really one of the keystones to the network’s success.
But the Blog Bank isn’t all just about advertising. One thing we’ve learned is that blogging for profit isn’t the easiest thing in the world and a lot of Filipinos get into blogging with high hopes of making it rich in the online oil fields. The reality is that there are a lot of great blogs with passionate writers that want to earn but don’t. This is why we’ve also introduced the Blog Bank Blog Donor Card: an exclusive membership card for Blog Bank publishers that entitles them to monthly discounts and perks. The first perk that we introduced was courtesy of our Red Box host, Mr. Paolo del Rosario – our pioneer publishers were given Red Box VIP cards that entitles them to a huge discount for food and drinks as well as a free Karaoke party during their birthday month!
It’s simple really. The longer you stay and grow your blog with us, the better the perks get. So yeah, even if the money may not be in the several thousands at first (although our top publishers are already making more than P2,000.00 / month per ad spot), we want publishers to know that they are still a valuable contributor to the community.
The Blog Bank is all about community. We’ve observed that blogging in the Philippines definitely isn’t an island so we will be orchestrating wacky community events for Blog Donor Card holders every month, also as a way to communicate our monthly giveaways to the publishers. For publishers outside Metro Manila, do not fret! We’re working on ways to reach out as well.
The Blog Bank believes in viral marketing. We will never require or force our publishers to write positive or negative reviews about our sponsors and their giveaways (basically all we want is a little space – their ad space!).
To the bloggers and publishers who came to our Red Box launch, thank you very much for your support! In closing, there is a huge, huge gratitude to our pioneer advertisers – eLBC Express Regalo and Digiprint, Delifrance’s Spiked After 5 campaign, and Nokia Philippines with their Soul of the Night Wireless Adventure II. Thank you for putting your faith in the blogosphere!
