The News

First, the good news. After we opened signups to the public, we managed to more than double our daily network traffic! That data was around two days ago — I wouldn’t be surprised if we now have surpassed three times our pre–launch traffic figure. This surge should help us grow by attracting more advertisers, which can only be good for everyone.

Now the bad news. New signups are temporarily disabled. The overwhelming response of the local blogging community has produced dozens of new publishers a day. Though it is a good thing, it affects our pre–sold inventory of impressions from our current publishers.

We apologize to everyone who’s been planning to signup; we’ll be back in no time. Consider this our holy week break as we plan to be back just as brick and mortar shops reopen next week, give or take a day or two.

Until then!

Tadah! How we do it.

When a publisher signs up with the Blog Bank, our system calculates the total number of pageviews your site generates per month. We use javascript. In turn, the site is categorized into a “bank” composed of other blogs that will total 500,000 (or so…depending on how we cut it up but as of now its 500k) pageviews per month. An advertiser can choose to buy a certain number of banks per month, for a period of 30 days and publishers earn the amount equal to the percentage they contribute to the bank. The publishers and the network split the revenue 60-40 in favor of the publisher. Read the rest of this entry »

The Blog Bank: Now accepting Blog donations!

The Blog Bank

Finally, after months and months of sweat, blood, and cartons of Yellow Cab, we’re finally open to the public! You see, it’s not that easy figuring out a localized advertising system that would be beneficial to both advertisers and bloggers. It’s one thing to tell bloggers that they are going to make tens of thousands of pesos with us - and another to drown advertisers with the most expensive rates in Internet history. So finding that sweet spot was really one of the keystones to the network’s success.

Delifrance: A New Phase, A Different Face

These past years, Delifrance Philippines of the Jollibee Foods Corp., has been quietly operating in the Metro. It has maintained a loyal clientele that has treated the niche establishment as their own best-kept secret. But now, Delifrance is transforming and taking on a new face—poised to enter a new phase in Philippine dining.

A Place to See and be Seen
A decade ago, Tony Tancaktiong, President of the Jollibee Foods Corporation, went to Singapore and there witnessed the success of a Euro-continental styled cafe known as Delifrance. He somehow saw its connection with the vision of Jollibee Foods Corp. – which was to provide good food and happiness – and proposed bringing this unique dining experience to the Philippines.

LAUNCH!

What: We’re launching the Blog Bank
When: Thursday March 13 2008 7:00 PM
Where: Red Box Makati @ Greenbelt 3

Finally! We’re launching The Blog Bank. So the rumors you’ve heard on the forums and mailing lists were true. We’ve got great stuff in store for our publishers — and we’re going to show you this Thursday. To confirm your attendance, please text Alma at 0917.534.4624 with your name and blog address.

Thanking our pioneer sponsors: Express Regalo, Delifrance and Nokia

Launching The Blog Bank couldn’t have been done without our first set of advertisers. There’s a little springboard to every endeavor and we have eLBC to thank for opening their doors to blog advertising. We have already seen them in the form of Express Regalo and Digiprint, two excellent services that are blazing trails for eCommerce in the Philippines.

Next up was Delifrance and their Spiked After 5 campaign which got the word out to bloggers and viral marketers that Delifrance was offering to spike your coffee with alcohol after 5 PM in major branches in the metro.

Last but not the least is Nokia Philippines. The Blog Bank has become a venue for Nokia to spread the word about the next big wireless race and the Soul of the Night campaign that is currently going on around Asia Pacific.

They say it takes three points to draw a stable plane. With our first three advertisers on board, we mark the launch of The Blog Bank this coming March 13 2008 at 700 PM Red Box Greenbelt 2.
